Jay is Purtill & Company's network consultant and has developed an Intranet for the office which allows Purtill & Company personnel to access office procedures, and gives new personnel a reference to understand office policies and procedures. Jay also manages the company website, constantly adding research documents to the site for clients, customers, and visitors to download, and improving the website to provide for better feedback and communications with our clients and customers. In addition, he is the in-house technical advisor for our clients' networking problems. Jay is also a qualified installer for the Visual AccountMate product line and works on software modifications and support. Jay is a graduate of Ithaca college where he played varsity baseball.

Gretchen is the firm's administrative manager and also serves as workflow manager, responsible for smooth on-time performance. 
John S. Purtill, Jr., CPA, CGMA - john@purtill.com

John Purtill is a heavily experienced CPA, controller and financial executive. Before starting his firm, he held finance and general management positions in ABB/Combustion Engineering and Uniroyal. John is a 1964 graduate of the University of Connecticut and served in the United States Army Field Artillery where he attained the rank of Captain. John received his CPA in 1969 while on the staff of Price Waterhouse.

John is the editor and lead author of Starting a small Business in Connecticut, now in its 8th edition and used throughout the state by entrepreneurs and their advisors.

He has written many articles on accounting and financial management for publication in many magazines and has held many leadership positions in the CPA profession, at state and national levels. He has received about two dozen awards for outstanding seminar leader from several state and national organizations, has written about 20 education courses and is recognized as a leading authority on LIFO inventory. John has testified on accounting issues in court and before the New York legislature. He is a member of the Connecticut Society of CPAs and a Life Member of the American Institute of CPAs.

Olga N. Bubnova, CPA - olga@purtill.com

Olga is a manager with both a tax and accounting background. She brings to us a solid knowledge of our clients’ businesses and the added experience in financial management and law firm management. She has an extremely broad background including business consulting, tax and financial planning, manufacturing, agriculture, service businesses, nonprofits, retail businesses, real estate, construction, landscaping and advertising.

During a break in service with us from 2006 to 2012, she served as the corporate controller for a large Connecticut law firm and is well versed in both tax and accounting for law firms.

Olga is a QuickBooks advisor and is experienced in installing, troubleshooting and training with QuickBooks.

She is a native of Siberia in Russia who came to United States for college in 1997. She received her degree from the University of New Haven in 2001 and began working in public accounting in 2001. Olga received her MBA from the University of New Haven in 2005 and is completing her MS in taxation from UNH.  She is a member of the Connecticut Society Of Certified Public Accountants.
